2020 Wedding Trends You Should Know About

It’s clear that in 2020 couples want to their weddings to be about individuality from wedding fashion, décor, and ambiance to ensure consistency and authenticity. So Forever Bridal has done some research to help you make your wedding the best it can be. Scroll down to find out what's hot and what's not for 2020!

The Wedding Location. Your wedding day is personal to you and your future spouse — what does the location say about you both? This year people are looking for authentic, local touches to incorporate their location into the day. The mindset of modern couples is to be more creative about rituals and custom. It’s about finding balance: taking what’s traditional and reframing it into new, fun elements of a wedding. Classic yet still Sexy Wedding Gowns. The 2020 brides are leaning towards classic simple and elegant lines. There’s a move towards pared-back sleek, minimal styles and stripped-back glamour but still sexy gowns. Satin and Silk fitted sheath dresses are making a comeback. Brides are increasingly opting for dresses with straps that flatter the bust-line and add a modern touch rather than strapless. Less is More. Dramatic Veils or Headband. More and more of brides are going for simple dresses paired with the most beautiful veils that float and fly, with beaded or lace edging, or personalised customisation sewn into the back of your wedding dress or veil to add wow-factor. A huge trend will also be the bridal headband. Clips, more gold and rose gold may also creep into the picture creating timeless elegance

Pearl Accents. From accessories to gowns, pearls are having a major moment that’s only going to continue into 2020. Expect to see dresses and veils studded with tiny pearls. We especially love pearl embellishments to compliment an unmistakably cool hairstyle. When it comes to jewellery, it’s all about imperfect pearls that lend an earthier but still polished vibe, like drop-earrings with molten gold and asymmetrical stones.

Sensible Footwear. Savvy brides are now wearing comfy but pretty footwear for their photo sessions after the ceremony and to dance the night away. Something cute, but easy to get around in.

Mis-matched Bridesmaids. In 2020, identical bridesmaids’ dresses are fading away…

Brides are pre-selecting a palette to fit their location or styling theme, taking individual body shapes and skin tones into consideration, then asking bridesmaids to choose from three or four different shapes that complement her own dress, making sure that everyone is feeling great on the big day.

Bouquet Flowers. Flowers are set to take on a more relaxed and natural feel, too. Brides are experimenting with non-traditional flowers and colour palettes, as well as natural greenery. It’s still elegant, just not quite so formal.

Wedding Décor. Bespoke weddings are all the rage with thoughtful personal touches that are unique to the clients. Simple yet elegant floral arrangements mixed in with greenery, one statement centrepiece, or a structural floral arch framing the couple while getting married. Last year it was all about muted pastels, in 2020 it's looking like the wedding trend is rustic, green and white weddings - lots of nature themes based around vibrant earthy shades such as burnt orange, terracotta and emerald… including bridesmaids dresses!
